Tepic, Nayarit — Eight minors of Chiapas origin were rescued after complaints of child labor exploitation.
Members of the Attorney General of Nayarit reported rescuing the eight children in response to a complaint that revealed that children were forced to ask for money in the streets of Tepic.
They said that many times, the disguised children were sent out to beg for coins or perform work under the hot sun.
Three adults, none of whom were parents or relatives of the children, were placed at the disposal of the authorities for their alleged participation in the crime of exploitation of minors.
The eight children who are originally from the state of Chiapas, ranged in age from four to 15.
An anonymous report allowed authorities to find the neighborhood in which they were being forced to work. Police said that they visited the home where the children lived, calling it deplorable and noting the children were kept in a small room without beds, only two blankets.
