Acapulco, Guerrero — Armed men have shot and killed a political candidate for a municipality in the seaside city of Acapulco.
Rodrigo Salado Agatón, PRI-PVEM candidate for the third municipality of San Marcos in Acapulco, was assassinated by a group of three armed men Thursday.
According to the police report around 3:17 p.m., three armed men in a truck traveling along the El Potrero-Lomas de Chapultepec highway fired several shots at the vehicle in which Salado Agatón was driving.
The Attorney General of Guerrero has begun an investigation for the crime of homicide. In Guerrero, since the beginning of the electoral process, 13 politicians have been assassinated, among candidates, pre-candidates and candidates.
Rodrigo Salado Agatón was campaigning for the political position of alderman in Acapulco.
Mexico elections for all seats around the country take place July 1, including the next president of the country.
