Cancún, Qunitana Roo — Quintana Roo is among the states that will have the highest growth during 2018, according to the projections of the financial institution Citibanamex.
According to estimates presented by the financial institution, next year Aguascalientes will show the greatest economic expansion of the entire country at a rate of 5.6 percent.
Next comes Queretaro whose estimated rate will be 4.9 percent, while Quintana Roo will be in third place with 4.5 percent. The fourth largest growing state is expected to be Guanajuato with 4.3 percent.
The institution said in a report that the growth of the states in this year and in 2018 will be affected by oil production, the recovery of manufacturing in the face of greater external demand, and the strengthening of domestic demand.
“We anticipate that Campeche, Tabasco, Veracruz and Tamaulipas will continue to be affected by lower oil production,” Guillermina Rodríguez, an economist at Citibanamex, said in the report.
The only two with anticipated economic decreases are Campeche and Tabasco with falls of 6.6% and 6.3 percent.
Citibanamex estimates that in the next year the Mexican economy will grow 2.4 percent, and 19 entities will report a dynamism above the average.
