American woman killed in Mexico City to return to US

Mexico City, Mexico — An American tourist who was killed by a stray bullet Saturday in Mexico City will return to the US today.

On Saturday, Tatiana Mirutenko, a US citizen, died after being hit by a stray bullet. The gun shot was fired by a man on a passing motorcycle that police say, was targeted for a nearby man. The man was reportadly a bouncer at a club.

The woman was hit while at a taco stand while at El Califa in Lomas de Chapultepec. Mirutenko was visiting Mexico City with her husband for their one-year anniversary.

Reports say that 27-year-old Mirutenko along with her husband and two friends left the taquería at 5:50 a.m. when she was hit by a bullet.

The intended target, José Manuel Serrano, received minor injuries.

Authorities say that the shooting was captured on security cameras that show the armed men. They apparently were from the State of Mexico.

The Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City says that they are collaborating with the Prosecutor’s Office in the investigation to find those responsible.
