Pachuca, Hidalgo — A new fuel leak in a Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) pipeline was found Monday at the La Castilla property in the community of Teocalco.
Personnel of the Mexican Army were sent to the site to cordon off the area while Pemex personnel patched the pipeline.
According to reports, the leak occurred in a pipeline that crosses a crop field. The leak is reported to have been a 3-meter high stream similar to the one Friday in the municipality of Tlahuelilpan when scores were burned to death.
The news of the new leak comes days after a massive explosion killed 85 and injured 58 when a Pemex pipeline spwered gas for more than two hours before catching fire.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, however, area huachicoleros are suspected in playing a part in the initial leak since tapping Pemex pipelines to steal fuel has been an ongoing problem for many years.
