Baja California governor says CFE rate reductions will apply during summer

Mexicali, Baja California — The governor of Baja California says CFE rate reductions will apply during the summer months.

The electric subsidy for the summer with 1F tariffs has been guaranteed by federal authorities. According to the Governor of Baja California, Francisco Vega de Lamadrid, the reduced tariffs will be valid from May 1 to October 31.

He says the state will use approximately 38 million peso from its coffers to support the reduced rate for the elderly, socially disadvantaged and low-income families.

“It is already guaranteed. Every year is the same in that the reductions are fulfilled, so I do not have doubts it won’t be done,” he said.

“The state with its own resource invested 38 million peso to the elderly, disabled or socially disadvantaged, through the Tu Energía card,” added Vega.

The announced was made by the governor of the state after his meeting with the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit and the Energy Secretariat who discussed issues related to interconnection.

There was a compensation by the CFE for some outrageous bills in addition to fulfilling the agreement established after state authorities spoke with the secretary of Energy, Pedro Joaquín Coldwell.

The Governor of the State explained that a work meeting was already held where they discussed the increase in light, which will not be greater than 10 percent.

“It is about making the energy in Baja California cost less, that everyone is benefited,” said the head of the Executive Branch. He recalled that the interconnection of the main line running through the Mexican Republic is not connected to Baja California, which is in tender to be connected.
