Child drowns after being swept from mother’s grip

Mexico City, CDMX — The Office of the Attorney General of the State of Mexico says they have begun an investigation into the death of a nine-year-old boy.

A nine-year-old boy was found deceased after apparently being swept away in a street due to heavy rains. The accident occurred in the region of San Miguel Teotongo of Mexico City when the boy was reportedly walking down Eloy Cavazos Street hand-in-hand with his mother.

According to her testimony, the boy was swept away from her grip while the two walked. The boy was found drowned as he became lodged in the metal grates of a street drain.

Elements of the Investigative police, experts in criminology and photography, arrived to begin the first steps and remove the body.

The Office of the Attorney General are investigating the death for the possibility of culpable homicide in violation of a child.
