Dismembered body on island identified as Alberto Mojica

Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — Members of a criminal gang took over a social media account of one of their victims.

Posting a graphic photo of a man holding his own head, members of the gang who posted the photo used it as an opportunity to announced the death of Alberto Mojica.

The dismembered body of a man was found October 2 on a dirt road on the island of Isla Mujeres. The man was later identified as a local worker, Alberto Mojica, who was originally from Coahuila.

The social media message left on the account of the deceased man read, “I was a worker of Dona Lety and I was grabbed by the CJNG.”

Alberto Mojica studied in Technical High School 5 of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, although he lived in Cancun. His numerous online photographs show that he worked in the area of Punta Cancún in the Hotel Zone where he sold tickets to the sale of tickets for area nightclubs.

The Attorney General has opened a homicide file for Alberto Mojica.
