Family members protest prison conditions in Acapulco streets

Acapulco, Guerrero — Dozens of people who are said to be relatives of those inside the Acapulco prison, protested in the streets.

Alleged relatives of inmates of the Las Cruces prison blocked public roadways protesting suspected anomalies inside the Center for Social Readaptation. The road blocks began at 11:00 a.m. along Costera Miguel Alemán Avenue.

Protesters came to block both directions of the main road of the city in front of Galerías Diana, causing traffic chaos in the area. Another group blocked Cuauhtémoc Avenue in front of the Municipal Palace burning tires in the middle of the street.

Tourists were also victim to the roadblocks, many opting to walk since they were unable to reach their destination by vehicle.

Those involved were protesting about problems inside the prison and were requesting the transfer inmates who are suspected of generating violence inside the system.
