Financial operator for El Chapo arrested in Mexico City

Mexico City, Mexico — Police have arrested Víctor Manuel Félix Beltrán, a key worker of Mexico’s El Chapo drug king.

Mexico police arrested El Vic, as he is known, at a residential complex in Santa Fe, Mexico City. Víctor Manuel Félix Beltrán was the financial operator of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

At a press conference, Alonso Israel Lira Salas, head of the Criminal Investigation Agency, reported that an arrest warrant for “El Vic” was issued for extradition to the United States, where he was charged with drug crimes and money laundering.

Guzman’s sons have largely taken over the cartel following their father’s arrest last year and extradition to the United States.

Félix Beltrán, 30, is considered one of the top heroin traffickers for the United States. He is also wanted for money laundering, acting as a the financial operator for El Chapo’s sons. Felix is believed to have taken over the position from his father, Victor, who was arrested in 2011.

He has criminal ties to other gangs in Mexican states including Guerrero and Jalisco.
