Four former Mexican officers sentenced to 97 combined years

Jalisco, Mexico — Four former Oaxaca police officers have been sentenced to a combined total of 97 years in prison for their participation in organized crime.

A District judge of Federal Criminal Proceedings based in Jalisco has sentenced four former police officers, each with varying sentences, to 97 years in prison for organized crime.

The Attorney General of the Republic explained that former officer Abiud E will serve 32 years in prison, while Albino S was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Ex-officer Abel E was given a 20-year sentence and Francisco M will spend the next 15 years behind bars.

All four were also presented with large fines. They will serve their sentences between the Federal Center for Social Readaptation in Veracruz and the Federal Center Four Northwest in Nayarit.
