Group of foreigners in immigration van shot at, two killed

Heroica Veracruz, Veraruz — An armed group attacked a van of 40 Central American immigrants who were traveling in a vehicle on the Malpaso road, (Chiapas), Las Choapas (Veracruz).

According to the National Institute of Migration (INM), two of the foreigners were shot dead and another left in serious condition.

In a report, INM said that the incident occurred when the group of foreigners were traveling in a vehicle on the road and “were chased by a vehicle that was trying to overtake them, (but) by not taking the vehicle but by detonating their firearms.”

As a result of the attack, two Central Americans lost their lives, one adult and one under 10 years old.

In addition, a 36-year-old woman of Honduran origin received three bullet wounds, for which she was admitted to the Gilberto Gómez Maza Regional Hospital in Tuxtla Gutiérrez.

INM contacted the relatives of the victims so that the bodies are repatriated. The consulates of Guatemala and Honduras were notified of the case.
