Mexico City, Mexico — A highly sought after drug leader known as Z43 has been arrested in Mexico. José María Guízar Valencia, also known as El Z43 or El Charl”, alleged leader of Los Zetas in the south of the country, was arrested by elements of the Secretariat of the Navy.
Guízar Valencia is of American origin, and since 2014, a reward has been offered to anyone able to provide information that will leading to his arrest.
He is designated as responsible for the import of cocaine and methamphetamine in the United States.
The “Z43” is attributed the execution of three Veracruz policemen who were found mutilated.
He is also responsible for the supervision of drug trafficking from Guatemala to Mexico.
The sectarian of Interior, Alfonso Navarrete Prida, highlighted the arrest of one of the 122 priority objectives of the federal government.
“I acknowledge the research work of the elements of the @SEMAR_mx, in coordination with civilian intelligence agencies, for the important capture of one of the 122 priority objectives for the Federal Government,” he said on Twitter.
