Santiago de Querétaro, Querétaro –The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) announced on Monday the arrest of Samuel ‘N’ (also known as El Tortillero) leader of Los Mazatlecos, a group related to the Beltrán Leyva cartel, for his alleged responsibility in crimes including kidnapping and homicide.
In a press conference, the head of the office of the PGR, Alberto Elías Beltrán explained that the arrest of the detainee, one of the 122 priority objectives of the Government, was carried out in Querétaro and detailed that it is supposedly related to the transfer of narcotic drugs from Baja California to the United States.
“It should be noted that the arrest of this person was carried out in strict adherence to due process and at all times his rights were respected,” he told the media.
He assured that this subject of 34 years of age was arrested as a result of joint work between the dependencies that make up the federal Security Cabinet.
The official said there was an arrest warrant against ‘El Tortillero’ issued by the Fourth Specialized Court in Federal Criminal Proceedings in Toluca, State of Mexico, for the crime of organized crime.
“Samuel ‘N’, originally from Sinaloa, is considered one of the generators of violence in the state; it is characterized by its high degree of violence against the victims, “explained Elías Beltrán.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Deputy Attorney General for Organized Crime Investigation (Seido) to determine their legal status.
‘El Tortillero’ was former collaborator of Santiago Lizárraga Ibarra, ‘El Chaguín’, who was Lieutenant of the Beltrán Leyva and was killed in a confrontation with federal police in Nayarit.
