Mayor of Tijuana tells officers don’t be afraid to pull trigger

Tijuana, Baja California — During the tribute to the two municipal policemen killed last week by members of the Jalisco Nueva Generacion Cartel, the mayor of Tijuana, Juan Manuel Gastélum Buenrostro, told his police force to not be afraid to pull the trigger against “miscreants”.

The mayor attended the tribute made to two fallen police officers who were killed by members of the Jalisco Nueva Generacion Cartel already this year. He told his officers that thugs do not stop killing saying, “Do not hesitate, in reasonable doubt, to comply with the law. And if that implies holding the gun and pulling the trigger, do not hesitate.”

Juan Manuel Gastélum Buenrostro says that his municipal corporation is working, but that others do not do the same, “Because while the municipal corporation is combating all the miscreants, we do not see other states doing their job.”

The mayor of Tijuana asked the police to be alert to fight criminals and assured them that they have support.

“I cannot accept that this is the fate of this administration. I cannot accept that this is what makes this administration. I want to ask you fellow police officers, it is in your hands, it is before your eyes, before your ears, to know where things are wrong.

“You have a mayor as your ally. You have the entire council as your ally. Let’s not continue seeing these types of events.”

On January 3, a group of gunmen attacked police officers Fidencio Figueroa and Omar Araujo at a Chinese restaurant. During the attack, officer Fidencio Figueroa died. Omar Araujo died two days later on January 5.
