Yucatan, Mexico — One of the deceased from the Max-8 plane crash in Ethiopia was a Mexican woman from the state of Yucatan.
The government of Mexico reports that Graziella de Louis Ponce, who died in the recent crash, was a translator for the United Nations. They say that Louis Ponce was of Yucatec origin and spoke 11 languages.
The Foreign Ministry of Mexico says Luis Ponce belonged to one of the most well-known families of Yucatan, being linked to the automotive and corporate business sector.
On social media, a family member wrote, “A person of extraordinary talent, 100 percent dominating in 11 different languages which earned her a unique position as official translator of the UN . Rest in peace my cousin Gachita.”
On March 10, all 157 people on board the Boeing 737 Max 8 Flight 302 were killed when the plane crashed into the ground. The government has reported the plane was carrying 35 different nationalities.
There is still no word on what caused the crash.
