More than 30,000 sign up for Guillermo del Toro acting classes during Guadalajara International Film Festival

Guadalajara, Jalisco — Oscar winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro will be offering four master acting classes during the 2018 Guadalajara International Film Festival.

During the highly anticipated annual film festival, which runs March 9 to 16, del Toro said he will now be offering four acting classes due to an overwhelming response from the initial two classes that were being offered.

The Mexican Oscar winner announced his social media that the original two classes had a capacity for a total of 4,000, but within 30 minutes, nearly 30,000 people signed up. For that reason, del Toro says he will extend the master acting classes to four, noting that “the same class will not fit all but this helps.”

He also reminded fans that there is an “imposter” on Facebook claiming to be offering acting lessons with del Toro, which he says are completely false.

“It has come to my attention that an imposter is offering “acting lessons” from me in FACEBOOK. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. In the past, people pose as my representatives- and it may happen again. If you don’t read it here, I do not endorse it. Help us track any of these fake accounts.”

The Guadalajara International Film Festival is an annual event that this year, anticipates more than 110,000 visitors.

As part of the festival, Iván Trujillo Bolio, director of the Guadalajara International Film Festival says there will be the inauguration of the main hall of the Cineteca in the capital city, where a plaque with Guillermo del Toro’s name will be unvield.

More than 40 new films by 60 creators will be part of the festival along with guests of honor, events and ceremonies.

The 33rd annual edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival has a budget of 52 million peso and will draw 110,000 people to view the 236 films that will be shown in 31 theaters including the Performing Arts Ensemble of the University of Guadalajara.
