Acapulco, Guerrero — The state Secretary of Tourism Ernesto Rodríguez Escalona says that the new direct flights being added to the state will make the total 18 over the past two years.
Rodríguez Escalona reports that Volaris will start offering direct flights to the region in November and December with two new direct flights from Chicago to Zihuatanejo and one from Los Angeles to the port.
With the opening of these routes, he says there are 18 new direct flights to Guerrero that have been achieved two years after the government of Hector Astudillo.
“In the case of Acapulco 12 years ago there were no new international direct flights,” he said adding that the flights from Chicago to Zihuatanejo, which will begin on November 19, and the one from Los Angeles to Acapulco that will start in December, are “already achieved and signed” with Volaris.
Another “moored and signed” flight is with Sunwing that will operate from Montreal, Canada to Acapulco.
Rodriguez Escalona announced that he is in very advanced talks for another flight of Volaris from Chicago to Acapulco by 2018. In addition, negotiations have begun with Viva Aerobús for another pair of routes from Chicago and Cancun to Acapulco “with a great disposition of them”.
