New York’s Brands Travel opens office in Mexico City

Mexico City, Mexico — The official tourism marketing agency of the city of New York, NYC & Company, has announced the appointment of Brands Travel as its new representative office in Mexico.

Based in Mexico City, Brands Travel will develop initiatives related to tourism trade (including the MICE segment) as well as all communication, marketing and public relations activities in the country.

The company says Mexico is their ninth most important international tourist market for NYC after England, China, Canada, Brazil, France, Australia, Germany and Italy.

“We are very pleased to name Brands Travel as our new representative agency in Mexico,” said Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company.

“Taking into account the evolution of the five districts in our destination, the increase of global travelers and the expansion of the scope of our presence in this key market, we believe that the Brands Travel team has the expertise and the innovative vision to distinguish us from our competitors.”

The account will be headed by Carlos Ulibarri, CEO of Brands Travel, along with Carlos Baruki and Mauricio Castillo, responsible for the trade activity, as well as Rodrigo Medina Riveroll directing public relations and marketing strategies in the local market.

It is an honor to add our strength to your team,” said Carlos Ulibarri during the announcement in New York.

Bill de Blasio, Mayor of the City of New York, said that the city reached a record number of visits during 2017, with 62.8 million travelers (47.9 million domestic tourists and 13.1 million visitors international) of which 466,000 came from Mexico.

It is estimated during this year, 485,000 Mexican travelers will visit the five districts of New York City which are the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island.
