Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo. — A city employee of Playa del Carmen was shot and killed Friday night as he left his office.
José Enrique González Rosas was shot on Friday night in the street in the Gonzalo Guerrero neighborhood as he was leaving his office and walking toward his vehicle.
The City of Solidarity reported that at 9:40 p.m. , the Director of Inspection and Collection, José Enrique González Rosas, died in the facilities of the General Hospital of Playa del Carmen after receiving three gunshots.
According to preliminary information, González Rosas was attacked around 8:00 p.m. in the Colonia Gonzalo Guerrero after leaving the offices of the Directorate of Inspection and Collection. González Rosas was appointed the position of director earlier this month.
Reports say that earlier in the day, he had inspected several vendors in Playa del Carmen that turned out to be irregular, or without permits. A heated discussion ensued.
The municipal government specified that security protocols were activated from the moment the attack was reported. They also said that the police continue to carry out the relevant investigations.
In its communiqué, the City Council of Solidarity condemned those regrettable events and expressed its deepest condolences to family and friends.
