Officials looking for German tourist believed fallen into ravine

Tepoztlán, State of Morelos — The State Coordination of Civil Protection in the State of Morelos say they are continuing to look for a German tourist who is believed to have fallen into a ravine.

Civil Protection officials say that the accident is believed to have occurred Tuesday around 11:00 a.m. when someone reported the tourist, who is a German man, fell into the the Paso del Viento ravine behind the hill of Tepozteco in Tepoztlán.

Along with state Civil Protection are also the Rescue Squadron and Medical Emergency (ERUM) and the Red Cross who have been searching for the man on foot. Personnel have also called in mountaineering experts to participate in the search due to the geographic conditions of the site.

The state has also provided help with the aid of a helicopter and drone.

The man has been identified as 37-year-old Jonas N. Officials say they do not know why he was near the ravine since that area has restricted access.
