Acapulco, Guerrero — A Chilean tourist was shot to death and four more injured including a minor and another foreigner, during an attack recorded in an Acapulco nightclub.
The shooting stemmed from a bar altercation that turned into a fight. The incident occurred at 4:30 a.m. at the Baby Lobster bar in the tourist area of La Condesa in Acapulco.
Witnesses say that two men began arguing inside the club when another pulled out a gun and started shooting. One man, a tourist from Chile, was killed while a second Chilean tourist was shot, but not fatally. Two others were injured as well as a 17-year-old minor.
The deceased has been identified as Matías Xavier. His companion remains in hospital.
State Governor Hector Astudillo Flores announced a military police operation to “shield” the tourist area and the most central neighborhoods that have collapsed due to narco-violence.
