Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas — The Procuraduría General de Justicia de Tamaulipas has announced the arrest of five people related to the death of the coordinator of public ministries of the Procuraduría General de Justicia (PGJ).
During a press conference, the unit reported that arrest warrants were issued against Edgar Eduardo N, Juan N, José Isabel N, Cesar Gerardo N and José Martin N for the crimes of qualified homicide and criminal association in the death of Lucía Patricia Butrón Rivera.
On March 21, Butrón Rivera was shot to death by a group of armed individuals while she traveled with her children on the streets of Ciudad Victoria. She was taking her children to school when the attack occurred.
After the murder, the government of Tamaulipas offered a reward of 5 million peso to anyone with information leading to those responsible for her death. There was no word on how the five were found and apprehended.
However, when they were arrested, they were outfitted with tactical vests and various firearms, including assault rifles and semi-automatic pistols.
The Attorney General stressed that José Martín N, who was one of those arrested in the murder, is a member of the Ministerial Police working in the state’s Anti-Kidnapping department.
