Passenger bus heading to Cancun rolls killing at least two

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo — A bus carrying at least 20 passengers has overturned on its way to Cancun.

The accident happened Monday morning around 7:30 when the Hermanos Hernández bus turned onto the federal highway Felipe Carrillo Puerto-Chetumal.

According to information from local media, the driver of the unit allegedly fell asleep, causing the accident. First reports say that at least 20 were injured and two dead after the bus left the highway and overturned.

The passenger bus had left Macuspana, Tabasco and was heading to Cancún, Quintana Roo. The injured were transferred to Felipe Carrillo Puerto Hospital.

Police and emergency personnel are on scene rescuing people from inside the bus.
