Mexico City, Mexico — A judge has denied the request of bank account information on former Chihuahua governor Javier Duarte, but did grant a six-month extension for investigative purposes.
Judge Gerardo Moreno denied the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) request to authorize the release of bank accounts to the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV) in the indictment against the former governor of Chihuahua, Javier Duarte.
The judge said, “There is no place for the Public Ministry of the Federation to authorize this investigation technique to request information from the National Banking and Securities Commission.”
However, Judge Gerardo Moreno did grant them six more months to investigate.
Javier Duarte arrived at the courthouse at around 10:50 a.m. and he accepted what his lawyer Marco Antonio del Toro said.
The term of complementary investigation for the defense and of term for the PGR concludes the next July 31, after the elections.
