Chihuahua, Chihuahua — Agents of the Ciudad Juárez municipal police detained a cell of 12 alleged hit men including two women who attacked a patrol on Sunday, wounding two officers.
The gunmen declared that they belonged to the criminal group of the Los Aztecas gang who have already separated from the Juarez Cartel to create their own organization.
The detainees said their mission was to eliminate retail drug dealers from the Juarez Cartel and the Jalisco Cartel Nueva Generación (CJNG).
The detainees were identified as 30-year-old Jesús Gerardo CM, Ángel PM 43, Antonio ME 63, Luis Gerardo OR 22, Joaquín HS 41, Rafael MR 62, David G. 37, José Luis CC 40, Javier MG 48, Roxana LS 44, Laura Araceli ML 27 and Alfredo OM 44.
The arrest occurred at the intersection of Acacias and Oro streets in the Bellavista neighborhood where, inside a house, police found a man and a woman trying to hide, which resulted in the arrest of the others.
After the arrests, police seized numerous firearms and thousands of cartridges along with a variety of drugs and tactical gear.
The detainees told the police that “they all had the task of cleaning up drug dealers in the downtown area.”
