Celaya, Guanajuato — Legislators and members of the PRI political party have condemned the murder of Jorge Montes González, alderman in the City Council of Celaya and president of the Municipal Steering Committee of the tricolor in Guanajuato.
Montes Gonzále was attacked by gunfire on Wednesday at the height of the Arboledas del Campestre subdivision.
Local media reported that Montes González was killed around 2:00 p.m. in a car lot located on the North East Axis, near Galleries Celaya.
It is noted that at least 12 bullet wounds were embedded in the door of the truck, on the driver’s side.
Municipal agents and ministerial police arrived to cordon off the area . So far it is unknown if it was a direct attack or it was an assault. No one has been arrested in his death.
A social media statement from Bárbara Botello, PRI federal deputy for Guanajuato, wrote:
“I deeply regret the cowardly murder of our colleague Jorge Montes González. The government of the state must find those responsible as soon as possible. I want a quick resignation.”
We condemn what happened. My solidarity with the family of the councilor of Celaya Jorge Montes. We demand security throughout the State of Guanajuato,” said Senator Gerardo Sánchez, on his Twitter account.
So far authorities have not reported more details regarding the shooting or his death.
