Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit attract at world tourism fair

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco — The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (OVC), together with the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust and the Tourism Promotion Council of Mexico (CPTM), participated in the 38th edition of the World Travel Market (WTM) in London.

During three days, both destinations exhibited their novelties and tourist attractions, managing to have contact with potential partners and industry professionals.

The OVC of Riviera Nayarit achieved an important meeting with Aleksandra Piwko, representative of the tour operator Rainbow Tours, positioned in Poland, to take up the subject of the charter flights to the Pacific region for the Winter 2017-2018 .

Business appointments were made with other companies such as TUI-Thompson, which has positioned its flight frequencies from London and Manchester to the region in 2014, to increase the capacity of its flights for the upcoming winter Season with a Dreamliner for 345 passengers.

Another important meeting on issues of growth of the European market was the one that was carried out with TUI-Holland and Aeromexico, with a view to recovering Dutch tourism to the region.

Recently TUI-Holland took the risk of blocking 15 seats on each flight for three weekly flights on the existing route from Amsterdam to Mexico City, which is operated by Aeromexico, in order to connect this region of the Pacific.

In the same way, a meeting was held with Timo Vümer, Product Director of the tour operator Aurinko (member of Finnair Group), key piece of the newly opened commercial flight from Helsinki, Finland.

Aurinko of Finnair Group is the agency that has been responsible for marketing flights to the region/ Finland is undoubtedly an important market since Finns have an average stay of 14 days in the tourist destinations they visit.

It should be noted that the United Kingdom is the main source country for tourists from Europe to Mexico and the third in importance in the world. In 2016, 513,800 British resident visitors visited Mexico, 7.6 percent more than in 2015.

The World Travel Market (WTM) is considered one of the most important tourism fairs in the world together with FITUR (Madrid) and ITB (Berlin), by bringing together the best companies and professionals in the tourism sector that exceed 5,000 exhibitors from 186 regions and 50,000 visitors.
