San Luis, San Luis Potosí — The president and CEO of the BMW plant in San Luis Potosí, Hermann Bohrer, said that while the NAFTA agreement is being renegotiated, the construction of the plant, whose progress is around 70 percent, continues with the original plans to begin production in the first half of 2019.
He says their first will be their Model 3 Series that will be exported to 124 countries around the world. Bohrer said that whatever happens with the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement, the firm is ready to face any eventuality in the markets.
“Of course we are prepared for any volatility in the market and policies. We are going to stick to long-term decisions at BMW,” he said.
Bohrer mentioned that the plan for the manufacture of premium vehicles is underway and that in addition to NAFTA, Mexico has treaties with 45 countries. He says BMW is flexible enough to adapt to new conditions.
