Servicio Sismológico Nacional of Mexico records 38 earthquakes in 12 hours

Mexico City, Mexico — The Servicio Sismológico Nacional (SSN) of Mexico has posted 38 recorded earthquakes along the Pacific regions of Mexico over the last 12 hours.

The agency reports the recorded movements in seven of the Mexican states that range in magnitude from 3.1 to 4.2.

According to Instituto de Geofísica de la UNAM, 19 of those earthquakes were recorded in the state of Oaxaca. Of the remaining tally, six came from Guerrero, five in Chiapas and three each in Jalisco and Michoacán.

The states of Veracruz and Colima also had movement with one earthquake being recorded in each state.

On their Twitter account, the Servicio Sismológico Nacional details each of the movements with date, time, location and magnitude, reporting that the 3.1 was recorded 23 kilometers southeast of Pinotepa Nacional in Oaxaca, while the 4.2 magnitude quake occurred 137 kilometers southwest of Tonalá, Chiapas.
