Three tourist police shot dead in Baja California Sur

La Paz, Baja California Sur — Three tourist police officers were shot dead in the center of La Paz, Baja California Sur, the state attorney’s office said.

The event took place at 4.30 pm local time in the Colonia Centro of this municipality, detailed in a bulletin the Attorney General of the State (PGJE) of Baja California Sur.

State agents reported that, “Located on Calle Rosales and Álvaro Obregón, aboard a vehicle were the bodies of three male persons killed by gunfire”.

The victims were identified as agents of the Tourist Police, added the State Attorney.

The bodies are in the forensic service and the authorities opened an investigation and gathered in the place of the facts test data in order to clarify the event.

Baja California Sur has suffered a wave of violence for months, apparently because of the struggle between cartels to take control of the area.

Last November, the president of the Human Rights Commission in this state, Silvestre de la Toba, was shot dead in an attack in which his son Fernando was also killed, while his daughter and wife were seriously injured.
