Two arrested in disappearance of three Italian men

Tecalitlán, Jalisco — Two men believed to be linked to the disappearance of three Italian earlier this year, men have been arrested by federal police.

Omar Hamid García, Chief Director of the Criminal Investigation Agency, told the media about the arrest of two men that are part of a criminal group that operates in Jalisco.

Two operators of the cartel Jalisco New Generation were arrested by members of the federal police, One of those arrested, José Guadalupe Rodriguez Castillo, has been identified as the regional chief of the criminal group.

This is the same group, police say, that they believe is related to the disappearance of three Italian citizens that took place January 31 in Tecatitlán, Jalisco

Hamid García says that Rodriquez Castillo operated in the municipalities of Ciudad Guzman, San Gabriel, Tecalitlan, Toliman, Tonila, Zapotiltic Tuxpan and Zapotitlan de Vadillo, while in the state of Colima, he ran a criminal operation zone in Manzanillo, Minatitlán and Tecomán.

Police have also arrested José Guadalupe Rodríguez Doroteo, a second man believe linked to the disappearance of the Italian men and to the same criminal group.

After their arrest, police learned that that the Italians were intercepted in Tecalitlán and taken to the road to Jilotlán de los Dolores to be delivered to members of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel.

The drop was made on the instructions of Hugo Enrique Martínez Muñiz, former Director of the Municipal Police of Tecatitlán.
