Cancun, Q.R. — Two dead and at least five injured is the preliminary balance left after an attack on a restaurant in the city of Cancun, police authorities and emergency services reported.
In a preliminary report from the Cancun police the attack was recorded around 8:45 p.m. local time at the Restaurant Chuka’s Palapa.
Police say emergency number 9-1-1 was received from at least three neighbors indicating that they heard detonations and that in one of those conversations, there are 5 injured.
In the follow-up of the report, one of the informants commented that those responsible for the attack traveled in three vans.The same report says that inside the bar there are two dead and several injured outside.
Personnel from the Red Cross confirmed that three of the injured were serious. The report of the Ministerial Police says that in total there are 8 injured.
The incident was recorded hours after the US government improved the perception of safety of the tourist destinations of Quintana Roo and a week after the year of the attack on the Blue Parrot discotheque in Playa del Carmen during the closure of a electronic music festival.
