Two Mexican men stabbed in Berlin altercation

Berlin, Germany — Two tourists of Mexican nationality were seriously injured when they were attacked with a knife in a commuter train in the circular line of Berlin by a stranger who, after the attack, fled.

According to the German newspapers Bild and Berliner Zeitung, both men were operated on and are reported to be in stable condition. Reports say the two Mexican tourists and a 37-year-old German got into an argument with a stranger while traveling on a train.

The train was apparently between the stations of Prenzlauer Allee and Greifswalder Strasse, in the Prenzlauer neighborhood. According to the report in the newspaper, the stranger pulled out a knife and assaulted the two men.

A homicide unit is investigating the case. The Mexican nationals have only been identified as 19 and 21 years of age.
