Amozoc, Puebla — Two commanders of the Municipal Police of Amozoc were detained by the General Prosecutor’s Office of the State as part of the investigations into the events that took place on Friday, where six police officers of the municipality were killed.
According to information from the agency, so far four people have been arrested in the deaths. They say a possible network of corruption is likely one of the reasons for the deaths of the six police officers.
The detainees could include high-ranking personnel in the public security corporation, one of them being commander, Javier Rojas.
The information was reported by the Attorney General’s Office through Twitter, although the arrest of more police elements has already taken place.
The state authorities only indicated through a preliminary statement that police elements had filed a complaint with the Municipal Comptroller of Amozoc on Thursday for alleged anomalies within the municipality.
Initially, it was reported that the six policemen allegedly died at the hands of huachicoleros (petro thieves).
