Cancun, Quintana Roo — A Veracruz man wanted for kidnapping, extortion and drug-related crime has been arrested in the tourist city of Cancun.
The man, identified as Jose Antonio, was one of Mexico’s most wanted criminals with a bounty of a million peso reward to anyone leading to his arrest. The one million peso bounty was offered by the state of Veracruz.
Officials of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), arrested him yesterday. According to a statement issued by the Attorney General’s Office, Jose Antonio was arrested and charged with perpetrating abductions and extortion. He was also charged with trafficking narcotics in Xalapa, Veracruz.
