Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca — A young crocodile was removed from the beach at Puerto Escondido over the weekend after beachgoers saw it swimming.
The crocodile, which was about one meter in length, was removed from La Lagunita beach on Sunday afternoon by local officials. The croc was spotted swimming in the beach area by locals who called authorities.
Members of the Oaxaca Fire Department, who together with fishermen, managed to capture the crocodile. It was which transferred to the UMA of La Barra de Colotepec.
It is not uncommon to spot crocodiles in the area. In June, another one was captured in Puerto Angelito beach. Authorities of Civil Protection recommend that when a crocodile is seen, not to bother it or try to capture it, but to call officials since they are considered dangerous.
